Trauma-informed organizations consulting
VISION
Over the past few years, I've spent a great deal of time with faculty and staff working on the front lines of education to help them understand trauma and its impacts. One of the most common questions I'm asked is how they can bring this information to their executive leadership and build a truly trauma-informed institution.
My sense is that there is a growing awareness of the need for trauma-informed approaches that are woven throughout the fabric of an institution's culture. Through this consulting offering, I aim to help meet this need.
A few caveats:
My approach and offering here is "consulting-lite."
I want to balance the gifts and challenges of hiring an external consultant by offering a fairly brief, affordable consulting option that helps you identify opportunities, create an action plan, and harness the strengths of your existing team to become a trauma-informed institution of higher education.
DETAILS
I hold a certification in Trauma-Informed Organizations from the University of Buffalo and have a wealth of experience guiding individuals and institutions in combining learning experience design (LXD) with the Missouri Model of Trauma-Informed Organizations.
Most typically, I will ask you to commit to three, 90-minute virtual meetings where key stakeholders will meet with me to:
1. Describe the current state of trauma-informed approaches at your institution and to learn the basics of the Missouri Model.
2. Brainstorm and ideate around solutions for your campus.
3. Prioritize next steps, identify members of campus who can champion this work, and develop an accountability/action plan.
If additional support is needed after these initial meetings, we will revisit our agreement at that time.
Please contact me to discuss costs and scheduling.

A few caveats:
- I know that many folks in higher education distrust consultants and have very legitimate concerns about hiring external consults for exorbitant costs.
- I also know that an outside perspective can help create change and shine light on new possibilities.
